What are Meal Swipes and how can they be used?
Meal Swipes are used to access The Servery at the Dining Commons, which is our all-you care-to-eat dining location on campus. The number of swipes a student receives depends on their selected meal plan. The Unlimited Plan provides unlimited swipes per week, while the Weekly 14, Weekly 10, and Weekly 8 plans offer 14, 10, or 8 swipes per week, respectively. These swipes reset weekly and do not roll over. The Block 50 Plan includes 50 swipes to use at any time throughout the semester.
What is Flex$ and how can it be used?
Flex$ is included with all campus meal plans except for the Block 50 Plan. Flex$ works like a declining balance and can be used dollar-for-dollar at any Hornet Hospitality dining location.
What are Meal Exchanges and how can they be used?
Meal Exchanges are included in the Unlimited (100/semester), Weekly 14 (100/semester), Weekly 10 (75/semester), and Weekly 8 (50/semester) meal plans. Each plan includes a set number of Meal Exchanges that can be used throughout the semester. Meal Exchanges can be used in place of a Meal Swipe for a meal from a pre-set menu at: The Spread, The Habit Burger Grill, Baja Fresh Express, Einstein Bros. Bagels, The Bagel Place, Good Eats!, Courtyard Market, Tenders Love and Chicken, and Engrained (To-Go only). They provide extra flexibility and convenience for students. Usage is limited to the number of Meal Swipes available per week, up to the semester total.
What are Guest Meals and how can they be used?
Guest Meals are included in the Unlimited (10 Per Semester), Weekly 14 (10 Per Semester), Weekly 10 (5 Per Semester), and Weekly 8 (3 Per Semester) Meal Plans and are only valid at The Servery at the Dining Commons. They are intended to be used to bring friends, family, professors, etc. to dine with you! You may also use your Guest Meals for yourself at The Servery at the Dining Commons.
How do I check my Meal Plan balance?
To access your balance of Meal Swipes, Flex$, and Guest Meals, please ask the cashier at any Hornet Hospitality location to print your balance. To check your Meal Exchange balance, please visit the Meal Card Office in the Servery at the Dining Commons or email uei-dsinfo@csus.edu. *The Unlimited Meal Plan holders may access their Meal Exchange balance at any Hornet Hospitality location on campus.
Do my unused Meal Swipes carry over to the next week?
Meal Swipes do not carry over from week to week. They reset every Sunday at 11:59 PM.
Do Flex$ and Meal Exchanges expire?
Yes. Meal Plans expire on the last day of the semester and any residual balances you may have do not carry over to the next semester.
Can I change my Meal Plan?
Meal Plan holders, whether living on or off campus, may make one change to their meal plan during the first two weeks of the semester (through 9/05/2025) without any fee.
